CVM Romeldale Fiber -- you may click to enlarge these pics

fiberprize.JPG

CVM romeldale fleece is very soft, crimpy, crispy, and elastic. Generally romeldale fleece diameter is 21-24 microns (considered a fine fleece) and the staple length is usually 3-4 ½ inches. The wool spins up to make a very soft warm yarn and is often blended with exotic fibers. Lilac Ridge Farm sheep are coated and their fleece is virtually free of contamination.

Pygora Fleece (on the goats) -- click to enlarge and appreciate

Pygora fleece is often described as soft and luxurious.  Pygora goats produce 3 differents types of fleece in many different colors. Type A is most similar to angora fleece.  It has long and lustrous qualities.  Type B is a blend of angora and pygmy fiber.  It can have a matte OR lustrous finish.  This fleece has guard hairs which can be difficult to separate.  The type C fleece is the finest and softest of the three.  It has no luster and is creamy to touch.  It is often as  fine as cashmere.  Guard hairs, again, will be present.  LRF fleeces are all sent for commercial dehairing and it is often blended with other LRF wool.
